New Physio Ayla Fletcher

With the New Year we have a new Physiotherapist Ayla Fletcher starting at Evolve! Ayla has extensive experience in Sports Physio, general private practice and Clinical Pilates making her the perfect fit at Evolve. We would like to give a warm welcome to Ayla and invite you to learn some more about her from these few introduction questions.

Tell us a bit about your background, where you are from and how you came to Byron Bay?

I was born and raised in Fremantle, Western Australia. After completing my Physiotherapy Degree in 2014, I worked as a Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates instructor in WA until 2018 when I left Australia to travel Europe and Canada. I met my partner in Canada and became a Canadian accredited physiotherapist soon after. Together, we left Canada in 2022 to travel around Australia where we fell in love with the calm, serene beaches of Byron Bay. After we completed our trip around Aus, we decided to relocate to Byron Bay, eager to spend our free time learning to surf along Byron's beautiful beaches

What are you passionate about with Pilates and Physiotherapy?

I am passionate about empowering clients to understand their injuries, the reason for their pain and how to treat their body from day one right through to high-level pain-free athletic performance. I believe education and client involvement in rehab are powerful management strategies that can significantly speed up recovery, prevent re-injury and increase trust in one's body. I enjoy seeing the fast effects on hands on therapists such as massage, joint mobilisations and dry needling while valuing the effects of postural correction, activity modification, exercise, movement and lifestyle factors on recovery. Clinical Pilates is a wonderful form of rehabilitation where I work closely with clients to develop their brain-body connection. Through clinical Pilates sessions I find great job-satisfaction in training clients to develop a strong understanding of core control, pelvic stability, functional movement patterns and pain-free strength while reversing pathological and compensatory movement strategies.

What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of teaching Pilates?

In my time outside of the clinic I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, working out at the gym, learning to surf and I'll never say no to a beach picnic with friends.

Ayla will be available for Bookings Mon, Weds, thurs and Sat mornings! She will also be facilitating Pilates Classes on those days also.
